Will Schmid presents "Made Major & Soubrette"

318 Café, 318 Water St, Excelsior, MN 55331

Will Schmid returns to the 318 Café for a night of eclectic collaborations with a stellar cast of improvisers. A vulnerably formatted trio, Made Major searches for the intersection of the avant-garde and American folk traditions, contesting that the overlap is far greater than one might think. “Made Major” is Jake Baldwin on trumpet, Will Schmid on guitar, and Luke Peterson on drums. Soubrette is an opera singer's revolt. After studying classical voice at Bard College, she is now found writhing on dark stages, liquefying experimental poetics, operatic arias, spells, accidents, improvisation, and sensual pop. She is a Performer-Composer MFA candidate at CalArts. Joining “Made Major” and “Soubrette” on bass is multi-instrumentalist, Tyler Wagner.

I am Nelle.

I must make you aware of a show starring some of the city's best experimental rock creators.

Anything Adam Zahller curates will be excellent, and he's an electric performer.

It's also they second ever performance of me and Ivan Cunningham's new improv scenario which was a smashing success at Icehouse on Monday 7/11 at Matty Harris's first Jazz Monday (which you should check out every Monday this month.)

Come shake one hand of the Minneapolis experimental reawakening.
